Rainbow and the sun
-Roko Zaper
NOTES: This storybook was inspired by a documentary on the life of a Polish nobleman, Sebastián Berzeviczy, the alleged blood relative of Andre Benesz. My story follows Andre as he is told the tale of his relative by a mysterious old man. It is however just part of the story, as many years later Sebastián's daughter and her husband were hunted and murdered by Spanish spies. Only their son survived. With this as background, I wanted to examine our contemporary amnesia for the sacrifices and love that made our lives possible. As I hurried back to the car a voice from the shadows called out to
me; "Mr. Benesz, I know what it is you're searching for here." It was an
old man sitting immobile on a bench. "You wish to know more about
this castle and its history." It sounded like a rehearsed tour guide
speech. I waved the old man away but as I continued walking he said;
"If you listen to my story your dreams may change, in what way, that
depends on you." I stopped, glued to the spot, and reluctantly
decided to listen.
