Sweet Lullaby

NOTES: I first heard Sweet Lullaby by Deep Forest as a commercial for World Movies on SBS Television. The song had a deep impact on me, in part because of what it came to represent for me growing up in a deeply multicultural environment. The simple beauty of the song seemed to me to exist in stark contrast to the conformism and prejudices of the real world. Yet, to hear the song was always a liberating experience that I tried to take with me. Years later, I started drawing this version of the song one summer on an island, perhaps as a way to remember everything that was simple and beautiful about it.
