Dreaming of Issun

NOTES: This graphic novel is based on a traditional Japanese tale told to children. I came upon it during tough times and it seemed to speak to me about the struggle each person has to undertake as part of their life on earth. From becoming independent to being at the mercy of the powerful and the rich (alluded to when Issun petitions for a job). The metaphor of a small human being is timeless, for it is exactly this that ties us together as well our dreams of an honorable life. Hence the title, Dreaming of Issun, as this is ultimately what we all dream about. The style was inspired by the style of the person I love the most, in the hope I might share anothers dream.

Fate gives them what they desire...but desire becomes something else...a small child born to the crackling of stars and from a river of faeries...They call him Issun...
